A whole lot of pottering today – brought all the plants out onto the deck. Might as well get it done when you’re expecting overnight guests. Pretty sure they wouldn’t appreciate a bright lamp in the eyes before 7 AM… and it seems the frost is finally behind us.
On the deck… I sowed both of my sugar snap pea varieties, “Half Pint” and “Tom Thumb”, into large containers. Also sowed three more varieties of radish – “Diana”, “Cherry Belle”, and “French Breakfast 2” – into one of the raised beds. Threw in a few nasturtium seeds too, just to brighten things up. Left some space for a later bean sowing along the trellis…
Planted another six little strawberry plants – variety Merlan, with pretty pink flowers. Supposed to bear fruit all the way through autumn… We’ll see 🙂

My overnight guest got stuck in traffic and missed dinner… which was insanely good: hot-smoked salmon with a potato salad made from almond potatoes, radishes, pea shoots, salt, pepper, and olive oil… I can’t wait to make the same salad with fully homegrown ingredients – this time only the pea shoots were homegrown.
Later on, homemade chocolate cake with strawberries, copious amounts of tea, chatting, and a late dog walk.
