Wednesday – day 0
Last minute change of plans, I left work early and drove to Gerlesborg, just highway driving… nothing special.
Arrived at the Bed & Breakfast, Villa Akvarellen, around half past four pm and walked down to the school after dumping my bags in the room.
Signed in to the course and had dinner with the rest of the participants. 18 all in all, and al but one middle-aged or older. As expected 🙂
Beautiful place. But do not expect any action i Gerlesborg. Or anywhere to have a fancy dinner. Or even the smallest supermarket…

Thursday – day 1
The B&B had a decent breakfast. Most participants stay at the school and have all meals there. Staying at the B&B all meals except breakfast are served at the school. Convenient yes, fancy no. 🙂
Starting out with introductions… and the slightly odd experience of drawing portraits of other participants without looking at the paper. No need to say, that was tricky!
After the introductions we were introduced to “SKRUFS”. Skrufs is basically anything you can pick up from the ground. And we were to grab a piece of skrufs, a gigantic paper and a piece of charcoal. And sketch skrufs. I picked a pine twig. And thereafter a dry leaf.

After lunch we all went out to look for our motives. Either sit outside to paint – or bring something inside. There was definitely a lot to choose from.

My first choice was this mallow blossom. I taped it to a paper and started painting. So many of us chose the mallows, and we all realized how hard it is to bring out that incredibly sheer, almost translucent pink…

This one mallow stayed with me for the entire course, just wait and see…
The end of the course was at four pm – and dinner at six. So I took a break and went to the village across the bay, about 7 km, to buy some tea and fruit for the long evenings. Then, returning to the school for dinner and some more painting. Again, I chose some of the skrufs off the table and started, but didn’t finish before I got too tired to go on…
