In the first years of road cycling, I always did it in silence… After each ride, my mind was completely cleared. The past couple of years, I’ve often cycled with an audiobook in one ear, and it’s been quite cozy. But today, I rode without. The headset hung around my neck, ready to turn on, but I didn’t. I have noticed how tired I get in my head. I just want silence, but I can never get it. Work landscapes, inconsiderate neighbors… always having earphones in my ears, making it possible to choose my own impressions. But eventually, even that becomes too much.
Cycling without was so refreshing… Afterwards, I know I’ve thought about everything under the sun, but I don’t remember a thing.
The ride took me over Ulvesund, my first ride over 50 kilometers this year. Then, I mostly slept. I do sleep too much these days…
