Testing Roman Szmal Aquarius

Found a small set with five Roman Szmal Aquarius (and a temporary bonus pan I could not resist). Been curious of Roman Szmal paints for a while and it was reasonably priced. Whit the small, limited pallet – really nice.

Photo from a walk in Haverdal, Halland, Sweden in the summer of 2024.

Roman Szmal Aquarius

  • Lemon yellow
  • Aquarius red
  • Ultramarine light
  • Aquarius green

Handmade watercolors from Assisi, Italy

Because I had a big birthday coming up and got myself a gift… something I would normally not buy, just for me. I ended up choosing A. Gallo Colors, handmade honey based watercolors from Assisi, Italy. Beautiful colors, and slightly different to paint with than my normal watercolors…

Anyway, birthday passed fairly quiet. The rose hips was the first, couple of weeks later the stones. Beautiful colors – not as easy to layer, they lift easily. I’ll have to adapt.

More stones: So?? I didn’t notice… | jendah.SE

The picture and swatch card above show the Naturale 24 set and below the swatches a box of colors I picked just because they were pretty. They all look like candy though – eye candy.

I also got two of the Schmincke Horadam super granulating sets.

Found a funny book…

It may be a bit weird around here for a while, I found this book:

Fantasy Genesis A Creativity Game for Fantasy Artists av Chuck Lucas.

A series of dice rolls and corresponding word lists present you with an infinite variety of jumping-off points and visual problems to solve. The challenge (and the fun) is to meld seemingly unrelated and everyday elements such as a caterpillar, seashells, fire or a hammer into exceptionally curious, grotesque, oddly beautiful and totally unexpected creations.

There are four categories basic, object & weapon, creature and humanoid.

Today I tried

  • object with the shape deep sea fish and surface cobblestone
  • weapon with the shapes pronghorn, wild flower and molten lava

What is it?
How would I know 🙂
And that is what it is all about, it doesn’t matter what it is as long as I keep drawing. Hopefully a good way to both practice drawing and imagination.
